Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains what information PatchNoteHub collects, how it is used, and the rights you have over it. This policy reflects the site’s current setup and will be updated if that setup changes (for example, if an advertising network or analytics tool is added).

Comments

When you leave a comment, we collect the data shown in the comment form (name, email address, and comment content), plus your IP address and browser user agent string to help with spam detection. An anonymized string created from your email address (a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to check whether you are using it; the Gravatar service’s privacy policy applies to that lookup. After a comment is approved, your profile picture (if any) is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Cookies

If you leave a comment, you may opt in to saving your name, email address, and website in cookies for convenience so you don’t have to fill them in again on your next comment. These cookies last for one year. Logging in also sets a small number of cookies to remember your login session; these are cleared when you log out.

We do not currently run analytics or advertising cookies. If that changes, this section will be updated accordingly, and your consent will be requested through the site’s cookie banner before any non-essential cookie is set.

Embedded content

Posts may include embedded content (videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the same way as if the visitor had visited the other website directly, and those third-party sites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content.

Advertising

This site is built with placeholder ad zones. No live advertising network is currently integrated, so no advertising cookies or third-party ad tracking are active. This section will be updated with the relevant network’s data practices before any live ad network goes live.

Who we share your data with

We do not sell or share your personal data with third parties except: spam-detection services (to evaluate comments), and our hosting provider (as necessary to operate the site).

How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely so we can recognize and approve follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue. Registered users’ personal information is also stored in their user profile; users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except their username).

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes. Site administrators can fulfil these requests using the Export Personal Data and Erase Personal Data tools built into WordPress.
